Dear Parishioners – 11.29.20
I hope you enjoyed Thanksgiving in whatever way was possible for you this year. With this Sunday marking the beginning of Advent, we are well on our way toward Christmas and the end of the year. It doesn’t seem possible, yet I don’t think there are many who will be sorry to see 2020 in the rearview mirror with the promise of effective and safe vaccines on the horizon there is reason to hope that 202l will be a great improvement for us all.
Advent is a special time in the parish, a time during which we traditionally have hosted Gregory Norbet and our choir in an Evening of Reflection. While that is impossible this year, we do have other resources to offer to help us prepare for the coming of Christ. For instance, Fr. James Martin is offering an online retreat entitled “25 Days of Tgnatian Spiritual Gifts.” See the website to register: https://www.jesuits.org/spirituality/25-days-of-ignatian-spiritual-gifts/
And speaking of Advent Retreats, our own Dan Schutte will be offering one to the parish. The dates will be announced shortly. Due to a generous parishioner, there will be no charge to participate in the retreat.
The time we have left in 2020 need not be a desert; we have resources to bring us through. All it takes is the desire to do so, and the vision to recognize that this too shall pass, and one day we will be able to be together again safely.
