Enjoy the Picnic

Dear Parishioners,

This Sunday is our annual parish picnic, at which you can enjoy some old favorite foods, drink some soda or wine, and dance to your heart’s content while visiting with friends whom you may see only once a year…at this picnic!

Father John BaranThis year, however, there are additional elements at our annual feast. Because of the loss of our beloved pastor a few months ago, we will be having a table dedicated to his memory. This table will include a mock-up of the labyrinth that will be constructed where the convent used to stand. You will be able to speak with Liz Short Ramsey, who will be staffing the table. Liz designed the labyrinth as her Master’s Project while studying at Columbia University, and presented the plans to Fr. John. You may also make a contribution to the memorial labyrinth fund if you so desire.

At the same table, you will be able to purchase the Tribute Book that has been the subject of much conversation these past months. The committee, chaired by Barbara Kiernan, has done an awesome job of selecting and editing the many tributes and photos submitted by parishioners. The book includes a variety of Fr. John’s bulletin articles and homilies, as well as a musical tribute by parishioner Bob Ross. When you see how artfully the book has been compiled and designed I know you will be amazed…I was! Because of the artwork and layout, the cost of publishing the book has surpassed our expectation. With this in mind, we are requesting a minimum donation of $10. per book.

I am certain you will agree that the finished book reflects Fr. John’s tenure here at St. A’s, and his place in our hearts, beautifully!

Enjoy the picnic!

Eleanor
