Music Ministry

In their statement on music in the liturgy, the United States Bishops said: “Music should assist the assembled believers to express and share the gift of faith. It should heighten the texts so that they speak more fully and more effectively. The quality of joy and enthusiasm which music adds to community worship cannot be gained in any other way.”

The Music Ministry of St. Anthony of Padua Church strives to attain the “quality of joy and enthusiasm” in the sound of our prayer. We follow the agenda of the first document issued by the Second Vatican Council, The Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy; “The primary minister of music is the worshipping assembly”. We believe full and active participation is the aim to be considered before all else. (Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, 14).

Choir rehearsal takes place on Thursday evenings from 7:00PM-8:30PM, in the choir loft. All are welcome.

Our choir sings at the 10:00AM Mass on Sunday as well as Christmas, Holy Week and all other prayer opportunities including Taize Prayer every Friday evening during Lent.

As our Music Ministers gather to “Sing a New Church into Being”, our members realize and agree that personal prayer and growth in the Christian life is just as important as the music itself.

St. Anthony of Padua Church is proud and honored to have two world-renowned composers; Dan Schutte and Gregory Norbet as friends and partners in Ministry.

Above all else, music at St. Anthony of Padua Church is dedicated to inspire all to go out into the world to share the Good News and build the “City of God”.
